Battle For Middle-Earth Evil Campaign Map 28, Act 17 - Old Brown Lands

Starts with a large camp plot to the north west. Start building Resource structures & group troops accordingly as before. I've attempted to complete this map & achieve all the objectives numerous times over several months. Every time I've tried I could never seem to get all the Goblins before they were destroyed by the enemy. I therefore took a 2 month break & launched myself into the online world of BFME to see how good I really was. At first I was shocked & very disappointed. I should have known that the human brain is still far more powerful than any AI system.

It took me a few weeks of watching my replays to master & completely change my tactics but have eventually reached a 50/50 average after 20 battles, some of them running for several hours & very exhaustive. So onto this battle one more time with the aim of trying to reach all the Goblin Lairs before the enemy. Fortunately I have a few Wargs so will send all of them towards the enemy with everyone else following on attack mode. I may lose a few on the way but if I can at least map where they all are then I can plan a better strategy from the results.

From what I could find, all the Goblin Lairs are in the green locations with hordes of wandering Goblins in the blue area primarily with others first appearing to the east. More detailed locations of each Goblin Presence can be seen in the following images.

I decided to send everyone south east to a Goblin Lair that I've only been seconds from reaching before Gondor destroys it. I pass the first Lair on the way but push the Wargs further to the south east & pick off this one with some Uruks on attack mode to the south.

The Wargs carry on south east & encounter a load of stray Goblins.

I finally manage to get there before Gondor. As soon as the Lair is destroyed I encounter what appears to be the entire Gondor army looking fully upgraded. Many of my Wargs have been lost my now but the Uruks are close behind. I'll see how well they fare against this lot & perhaps try again.

Whilst the Uruk-Crossbow combos are holding the fort against the Soldiers a few battalions of horses run into my pike-crossbow combos. They had no armour so had no chance against fully upgraded pikes.

I sent Lurtz & some Uruks to scout the rest of the map for Goblins whilst the battle was raging in the south east.

Well it looks like I held off the Soldiers without too many losses. The Uruks carry on south east towards the main camp with Lurtz & the Wargs still clearing up the Goblins.

Judging by the lack of upgraded troops being sent out by Gondor I guess they're getting desperate. I decide to leave a few battalions here & send all the others to scout for Goblins.

I head for the medium Gondor camp to the west of their main castle & destroy it. I can head east from here then & get the Goblin Lairs safely.

Finally the Wargs come across the furthest lair to the far south. Gondor has been past here already but don't seem to have attacked this one.

With the medium Gondor camp destroyed I replace it with my own.

I sent the Wargs east along the southern border but no Goblins there. I take the opportunity to destroy a farm though & replace with a Slaughterhouse.

I then decide to send everyone north east to destroy a second medium Gondor camp. This will effectively restrict Gondor to the south east corner of the map & leave me clear to find the rest of the Goblins to the north.

By now I have a well developed camp to the south building Ballistas ready for the assault on the Castle.

I finally clear the last Lair to the north east

After numerous attempts to achieve all the objectives I decide to call it a day & carry on. No matter how fast I got the Wargs to the Goblins I still couldn't seem to get the objective. I did finally manage to get all the Lairs myself but there were still many Goblins wandering loose that may have been killed by Gondor. The problem is that you have to try & head for 8 Goblin Lairs simultaneously (If I've missed one please let me know) as well as advance to other territories. After all the practice of late this was quite easy & managed to build on every available plot apart from the last Gondor camp of course. I won't go into too much detail for a change suffice to say I had 2 Uruk Pits, 1 Warg lair, 3 Siege Works for gate. Although I didn't need these with the Balrog who managed to clear the gate & 3 buildings behind with one breath. So for the first time in the campaign I'm not going to have total victory. It's taken me 2 months on & off to get this far so I need to carry on. If I find a solution in the future I'll come back & try again.
